Benefit from the Personal Touch with your Local Printer

The Personal Touch with your Local Printer

You can print and personalise so many wonderful things nowadays: mugs, t-shirts, phone cases, tablet cases, photo books, calendars, canvases, posters, cards, brochures, post cards, invites, and the list continues.

I recently ordered some photo books online via a web company, in order to capture and celebrate a very happy family occasion.

With hindsight, oh my, do I wish I had just gone to my local printer directly instead!!

If I describe the experience I had online, I think it would be very interesting to then compare to the experience I know I would have had with Foundry Press, or with another competent, professional and friendly printers

1)  The unclear, confusing, slow and irritating software package had me tearing my hair out trying to lay out and re-order my images on the multitude of pages, constantly needing to hit ‘save’ in case there as some sort of error and I lost all my work. I know that with my printer this would have been a fun and simple process. Quick, productive, clear and I would have been able to personalize elements more.

The restricted selection of paper colours, stock weights and types, covers, cases and more, saw me compromise at every turn and ‘make do’ with the best of the best options online. I know that with a quick visit to a local printers, I would have chosen, in person, the best paper weight for my project, seen colours, materials, and made an educated decision, not a rushed one out of shere frustration to get off the computer!

2)  And the speed, from design to delivery, my recent project took 2 whole weeks!  2 weeks!  That’s an awful long time for 3 small, identical photo books! And there was no email updates, or notifications to tell me where the project was.  Admittedly I could login and see, but I was stuck on the 50% complete tab for a whole 10 days, with no estimated completion date.  I don’t call that managing a customers’ expectations, or even good customer service. By dealing with a local printer directly, I know that I would have been provided with estimated completion dates, and updated on progress throughout.  Who knows, I might even have received a cheery call to tell me that the project was ready to collect, or being sent to me.

3)  But did I get a good deal?  Well, the website told me I was getting 50% off, but by the time I’d added VAT and postage, the price seemed unrealistically high and again, I don’t believe it was value for money due to the service I received … or didn’t receive more like.

So, in summary, we all like the personal touch, and we all like our lives to be as smooth and as simple as possible. Well, I can definitely say that choosing a good local printer for all your print needs will brighten your day, leave more money in your pocket and pleasantly surprise you with outstanding results.

Why not try it next time?
